About Me

I have always wanted to be a dancer.

I was born and bred in Madrid in a family in which flamenco and “copla” formed part of the landscape of my childhood. I am the youngest of nine sisters whom I feel very close to.

Camarón, el Niño Ricardo, Antonio Molina, Fosforito, Lola Flores, José Meneses, El Lebrijano, Rocio Jurado, El Habichuela, Rafael Farina, Juanito Valderrama and Peret were “Velasco Shows” artistes, my father’s company.

I think my love of flamenco emerged from the ambience that surrounded me and I suppose from my genes because my mother and my aunt were Spanish dancers as well, a  very complete genre covering all art forms: flamenco, Spanish classical, Spanish folk, Bolero school, ballet.

My training has encompassed all these disciplines: from the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Madrid where I studied and got my degree, to the schools of Amor de Dios, Carmen Romero Karen Taft, Merche Esmeralda, Inmaculada Ortega, La truco and many others for more than 20 years.

My experience as a teacher began in Spain at the age of 16 and  in the United Kingdom since 2003, and  as a choreographer and dancer as well.
In these two countries I have participated in major music and dance festivals held every year.

There are a lot of people who watch me dance and tell me; “Oh I would love to be able to do that!” … and I believe that they can, with discipline, work and a lot of passion for flamenco. If they love what they are doing the same thing will happen to them that happened to me: even though I am exhausted at times, I never dance as much as I would really like to.
